Nursing Science Centre

In 2008, existing lecture rooms at the Nelson Mandela Metropolitan University were converted into the NMMU Nursing Science Centre, equipped with state of the art teaching technology.

The brief required that the available space accommodates teaching wards, boardrooms and lecturing facilities. The biggest challenge was that the existing space with large panel windows was not designed for its new function. As a result, the standard equipment had to be modified.

Phase two of the project, the expansion of the Nursing Science Department, is currently underway and will see the addition of more laboratories, wards and lecture halls equipped with teaching technology such as live video streaming of lectures via the internet.
