Muse Architects is an award-winning architectural + interior design practice based in Port Elizabeth (Gqeberha) in the Eastern Cape of South Africa. The practice was established in 2008 and has completed projects in the Eastern Cape + Western Cape as well as in Namibia. The Muse team’s combined years of experience are extensive, but we pride ourselves on the passion and fresh ideas that we bring to the table.
We are very practically involved in all our projects, and our team is up to any challenge. We constantly seek innovation, and we apply our working knowledge of different materials to experimentation with different solutions while working within our clients’ budget.
Although we focus mainly on architecture and interior design, we do not believe that these elements should be seen in isolation, and we apply an integrated approach to our projects while making use of our skills in 3D visualisation and graphic design, business concept development and model making, or any combination thereof.
We never approach any project with preconceived ideas, and, we not only take pleasure in our work, but also in providing our clients with exactly what they need as well as what they really want.
Our approach to each project is people-centric and participatory. People are different which requires a unique response to each project.
The design process is undertaken by a close-knit team that starts with a clear understanding of the client’s needs through consultations & conversations and discussions on budgets and timelines.
This is then followed by an in-depth analysis of the site and context and an understanding of regulatory constraints.
The design response is formulated and presented through drawings, images, and animations.
Further development results in material selection and the compilation of a complete set of construction documentation that includes layouts, details, and specifications.
The next step is the construction of the project where we are in constant dialogue with the contractor, other consultants and suppliers whilst monitoring the progress to ensure the successful completion of the project and ensuring the client’s expectations are met.
