A building to help establish a new culture in the faculty, a building that would encourage students to spend more time on campus thereby creating a community within the faculty.

We looked at the brief from two angles: how do you create opportunities for students to engage with one another across all the years of study and how does the building relate to the campus?

As stated previously, the fact that the building has three smaller buildings under one roof creates opportunity for students of different years groups to meet in various ‘pause’ areas. The idea is that a familiar face becomes a friend overtime which is in contrast to building 12 &13. The building had to relate to the campus, hence the familiar brutalist form and material but it is also a newer version that responds to a contemporary mindset.
